1. Motor torque is directly proportional to the current across the motor.
2. When the motor is turned, it generates energy. Normally the energy generated would be used as electrical energy somewhere else in the circuit, but since the circuit has been short-circuited, the energy is used to dissipated as heat from the resistance that the motor turning causes.
